The new Sun House takes the place of a Glamping Tent pond side.  It is tucked privately into the woods at the edge of the pond and with the big sunny deck, kitchenette and nearby grilling pavilion, makes a great spot for an overnight or two.  The sun house has 2 comfy twin beds or one luxurious King bed, plus a full bed in bedroom.

The St George Sound Studio is complete and ready for action.  This small pond side former garage will serve as sound studio, hang out space and guest cottage.  First pics below-we think it looks great!!

Bulletin:: Winter is COLD Expect SNOW!

Sitting through a fiercely cold and snowy winter is one of the joys of the North Country.  We get a chance to build up a layer of insulating bulk-whether from down or cookies is a choice (but a pretty hard one-I always opt for cookies...)

The fish are biting!.jpg

The ice is here to stay and a few new Pond Members are taking advantage of the cool waters to lure out the trout who hide pretty well in the warm summer waters.  Gracie, the pond Tibetan Terrier, keeps a watchful eye on the fishing flags and sounds the alarm when a fish is caught.

New Friends

This Winter we welcome a few new and hearty friends to the pond Membership.  These new lease holders plan a few trips North from southern NH, Massachusets and Connecticut for winter hikes and smne ski and ride fun at Breton Woods. We all look forward to summer when we will be swimming and hiking in our short shorts!

The first Friday and Saturday of the month will be Faraway Pond

Pitch in and Play Days

Here is your chance to come on over, join in with any skill level and do some needed maintenance around the land, enjoy a great meal with new friends and experience a day in nature.  We picked 2 days so the weather can be considered, details about what we are planning will be posted as the date draws closer.  A calendar of proposed activities will be coming soon.

Let us know when you would like to come on up for a fun day!

FUN, Food, and Great Company

The Big Barn Party for the Forest Society was a wonderful success!

Over 100 people turned out to launch the new Faraway Barn, sample beer provided by Schillings of Littleton NH, enjoy singer songwriter Alan Greenleaf and eat a tasty meal made from local ingredients.

We heard about the work of the Forest Society and got an introduction to the adjacent Dana Forest, its trails and wonders (including a real gold mine)

Many came early to walk the trails of Faraway Pond and hear about ways to become a member.  Consensus seemed to be-we must make this an annual event!  If you missed it this year-look for it next Fall when we hope to do it again!

Since 1901, the "Forest Society" has conserved forests of the Granite State for wildlife, clean water, working forests, recreation, and conservation. Forest Society members have played a large role in creating the landscape of the White Mountains and North Country on New Hampshire.

David Dana Forest in Dalton, Bretzfelder Park and The Rocks in Bethlehem, and the Kauffmann Forest in Stark are just a few of the Forest Society's nearly 200 state-wide conservation reservations, all open for public enjoyment.
